Great Dane Health
Health & Maintenance:
First and foremost we ensure the health of our Great Danes. We have our veterinarian do a thorough internal and external exam checking for heartworms, parasites, roundworms and tapeworms, various other diseases, hip displashia and other aging conditions that may be quite specific to the Great Dane Breed. If any of these conditions exist and can be treated, we treat them aggressively. Our Danes get monthly preventative heart worm medications as well as are treated for parasites, fleas, and ticks, roundworms and tapeworms.
Feeding:
Twice daily we feed our Danes a mixture of three different flavors of dry dog food along with hot steamed long grain white rice and 2 cups of warm warm sheep's Milk.
When our puppies can drink from a bowl on their own, we give them sheep's milk and rice so they can begin the long task of packing on the weight.
Supplements:
At times it is necessary to feed our Danes a dietary supplement of some kind. We find that a Calcium supplement of some sort is necessary especially when a Dam is pregnant or nursing. Other supplements will be added as necessary.
Vaccinations:
Our adult Danes, of course receive their yearly 7-Way vaccination and Rabies vaccinations as well as any shots or treatment that our veterinarian deems necessary.
Our Puppies receive at least three 5-way vaccinations by the age of 8 weeks of age, and four 5-way vaccinations by the age of 10 weeks if we still have the puppy.
